Hello Second grade families,
I hope everyone had a fun and
restful weekend after the Halloween festivities. I had a wonderful time talking with each
family during parent conferences last week, and I am very appreciative of the
time that parents dedicated in order to meet with me.
JUST SOME REMINDERS FOR THE
UPCOMING HOLIDAYS:
Next Monday (November 12th)
there will be no school for Veterans Day.
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday of
the following week (November 21st, 22nd, and 23rd)
is our Thanksgiving break, so there is no school on those days as well.
The students are going to start
their WIN reading groups this week.
These reading groups will go from now until the end of the year. Throughout
the year, the grouping may change as skill development progresses. WIN is a mix
of 2nd and 3rd grade.
These are just the second graders in my class in the groupings. I have
not added the other students in the third grade classes or the other second

This
week the students are going to incorporate their writing skills by writing
letters that will be going to New York City and Washington D.C. The students will be explaining why the Reach
the World program is a great tool and resource to help schools learn about
different countries, landscapes, animals, and cultures that we cannot immerse
ourselves in, living in the United States.
The class started their letters today and did a fantastic job with the
introduction.
On
Friday, the students will get to have a video conference with Micah-our
traveler from AZ who is in India right now.
The kids are excited and eager for our first video meeting with him, and
have lots of questions for him.
The
class will also have the Dartmouth students coming in to teach a plant
life-cycle, water cycle, and composting lesson in the afternoon.

Sincerely,
